Independent study of selected problems in instructional technology. PREREQUISITE: Permission of Department

EDIT 6100 Introduction to Instructional Technology - 3 Credit Hours

The field of instructional technology, situating the field within the context of its historical perspective, current practices, and future directions.

EDIT 6150 Introduction to Computer-based Education - 3 Credit Hours

The computer and its educational applications. Computer-based education in the areas of instruction, text and data processing, multimedia, and telecommunications. Philosophical perspectives on the role of computer technology in education.

EDIT 6170 Instructional Design - 3 Credit Hours

Systematic procedures for designing, developing, evaluating and revising instruction to meet identified goals and objectives.

EDIT 6180 Instructional Development - 3 Credit Hours

Develop instructional materials for a defined context applying a learner-centered, systematic design philosophy. Working within a team environment while applying contemporary learning theories. Engaging in situational assessment, learner analysis, performance specification, test construction, strategies selection, materials design, and evaluation. PREREQUISITE: EDIT 6170

EDIT 6190 Design and Development Tools - 3 Credit Hours

Students learn a variety of tools appropriate for computer-based development. These include graphics, media, and software development tools. Students are required to write a contract for the specific tools to be learned. This course is part of the Studio Experience. PREREQUISITE: EDIT 6150 or equivalent; Non-majors need permission of department

EDIT 6200 Learning Environments Design I - 3 Credit Hours

Instructional design, learning theory, project management, and evaluation of designing interactive learning environments for education and training. Students and faculty work in teams to produce interactive multimedia, electronic performance support systems, internet resources, and other evolving forms of technology-enhanced learning environments. This course is part of the Studio Experience. PREREQUISITE: EDIT 6170 and 3 credits of EDIT 6190

EDIT 6210 Learning Environments Design II - 3 Credit Hours

Contemporary learning theories of the design of interactive environments for information retrieval, learning, and performance support. Students and faculty work in teams to produce hypertext, hypermedia, microworlds, simulations, games, virtual learning environments, and other examples of interactive environments. This course is part of the Studio Experience. PREREQUISITE: EDIT 6200

EDIT 6400 Emerging Approaches in Teaching, Learning, & Technology - 3 Credit Hours

Teaching, learning, and performing, and the ways technological environments can be designed to support these approaches. Describes the theoretical and research foundations of these approaches, and demonstrates varied uses of technology.

EDIT 6500 Educational Television Production - 3 Credit Hours

Design, production, and use of digital and analog video. Laboratory experiences with studio and portable cameras, editing and other equipment suitable for school use.

EDIT 6900 Research Methods in Instructional Technology - 3 Credit Hours

Locating and interpreting information from published reports, planning and conducting research and evaluation studies, and using research and evaluation procedures to explore questions related to instructional technology.

EDIT 7230 Educational Applications of Computer Graphics - 3 Credit Hours

Static and animated computer graphics for educational settings including use of multiple visual representations in interactive learning environments. Strong focus on theory and research. PREREQUISITE: EDIT 6150 and EDIT 6220

EDIT 7460 Internship in Instructional Technology VAR 1-3 Credit Hours

On-site experiences under supervision of qualified person(s) in the field. Students maintain and submit a log, journal, or other documentation of their experience. PREREQUISITE: Permission of Department.

EDIT 7500 Technology Enhanced Classroom Environments - 3 Credit Hours

Design and creation of technology enhanced classroom environments. Examines role of current and emerging technologies in the classroom.

EDIT 7520 Distance Learning and Telecommunications - 3 Credit Hours

Distance learning and telecommunications in the United States and the world, covering history, research, technology, uses, and policy issues; development of appropriate educational applications.

EDIT 7550 Management of Instructional Technology Projects - 3 Credit Hours

Planning, organizing, supervision, and evaluation of technology-based education and training projects and support services in a variety of settings.

EDIT 7650 Applied Research Project in Instructional Technology - 3 Credit Hours

Culminating activity leading to Specialist Degree. Student applies skills, knowledge, and appropriate research methods to identify and solve real world professional problems. PREREQUISITE: Permission of Department.

EDIT 8150 Instructional Message Design - 3 Credit Hours

Application of message design principles to the creation of instructional messages in the materials for various media. Motivation, memory, perception, attitude changes and concept learning principles are integrated into practical exercises. PREREQUISITE: EDIT 6210

EDIT/EADU 8200 Theory & Practice of Educational Change - 3 Credit Hours

Individual and collective meanings of change, theory and practice of organizational change and development in a variety of educational settings.

EDIT 8350 Instructional Product Evaluation - 3 Credit Hours

Planning, conducting, analyzing, and reporting systematic evaluations of instructional products such as computer-based training, interactive multimedia, and distance learning. PREREQUISITE: EDIT 6170 and (ERSH 6300 or STAT 6210)
