Substitution List
(b) Sometimes students feel that they already have a thorough knowledge of Children' Literature. Specifically, we expect students to have three competencies in this area:
Students who feel they meet these criteria may submit a portfolio
demonstrating evidence of these competencies. Evidence may include (but
is not limited to) lesson plans or units, reading logs and journals,
work from undergraduate children's literature classes, and formal
reviews of books. The portfolio will be reviewed and a decision made by
the School Library Management Team as to whether the student may omit
Children's Literature from his/her Program of Study.
Other universities teach Cataloging. A recent course at the graduate level with titles similar to Information Organization, Technical Processing, or Information Access may substitute. No other UGA course will work.
There are many avenues for satisfying the Exceptional Child requirement, including Continuing Education credit, Staff Development, and RESA courses. These courses need not be graduate level.
