With these few information items, the advisor can usually check your
status and clear you for registration. He/she will let you know if more
discussion is necessary.
Remember: Don't wait until the last minute. You must be cleared
by your advisor, and professors often disappear to points unknown for
days at a time! If you take care of registration well in advance,
you will minimize your worries.

indicates that this is a mixed undergrad-grad class - fine for you to

73-662.
Explanation, from Dept Chair Dr. Faust:
The Department of Language and Literacy Education (programs in English
education, reading education, foreign language education, TESOL, and
children's literature) will begin using a new LLED prefix for all its
courses beginning spring semester 2010. In the interim (summer 09 and fall
09) some courses will be offered with an LLED prefix while others will be
offered using the "old" ELAN and READ prefixes. If students or advisors are
unable to find a course they are looking for with one of the "old" prefixes
they should check to see if the course is listed using the LLED prefix.
And from Dr. DeGroff:
The Survey of Children's Lit online will be offered this summer as
LLED 6310 ... I'd appreciate it if you'd share this info with your
students. I look forward to having those Library Media Specialist in
class again ...
And, if you will, please alert students to a mandatory face-to-face
meeting on Wednesday, 6/3, 4:30-7:30 in room 114/115 Aderhold.

ESOL Endorsement
As of 11-10-05, anyone with a Clear Renewable certificate in any area
(T, S, or L) may add the ESOL endorsement. In other words, a
Teaching field is not a necessary precursor. Some students may want to
consider pursuing the ESOL endorsement, which consists of LLED 7730,
LLED 7040, LLED 7630. LLED 7630 is a particulary relevant SLM
elective, because it deals with material design and teaching methods to
use with non-native English speakers. For more information about
about the ESOL program,
work with the Department of Language and Literacy Education.
It is now possible to add a Reading Endorsement to any teaching certificate in Georgia. All courses for the Reading Endorsement must have been completed after July 1, 2000 when the endorsement went into effect! The Department of Language and Literacy Education has been approved by the state Professional Standards Commission to offer the Endorsement to any student completing the following 3 courses:
LLED 6010 Foundations of Reading
Instruction (online or on campus)
LLED 6020 Children With Reading Problems (online or on campus)
and ONE of the following courses depending upon whether the Endorsement is sought respectively at the elementary, middle, or secondary school level:
LLED 6420 Literacy Development and
Instruction in Early Childhood
(online or on campus)
LLED 6070 Middle School Reading (online or on campus)
LLED 6030 Teaching Reading in the Secondary School
For more information on the Reading Education
program, contact the Department of Language and Literacy Education.
