Purpose
of this
Assignment
The Results portion of the Applied
Project represents the heart of the research and is a major
accomplishment. This assignment provides an opportunity for you to
draft your Results and receive formative feedback.
Task
In objective terms, present the results of your study. Do not
present your opinions, discussion, or any other subjective elements in
this section - but carefully note your subjective ideas for development
in the Discussion section.
Strive to keep your data well
organized in your Researcher's Notebook. It may be needed later;
you need not submit it, but instead your summary of it.
My task will be to give full credit
for complete submissions, and to provide quick formative feedback so
that you may revise and go on to the next step.
Components
- Overview: write this last, but
present it first. It should outline the elements to follow within this
section.
- Describe your methodology in past
tense - most concisely presented as a numbered list of steps. If your actions varied from the
original Design, describe the changes and why you made those decisions.
(Major changes should have been approved by me.)
- Results: numerical charts, tables,
summaries of interviews, written comments, etc.
- Present the evidence that will
"answer" your research question(s). (This evidence may overlap
with the previous bullet.) For convenience, restate your Research
Question once again.
- Provide just enough text to
describe your results. This text might appear as captions, or as
concise paragraphs or language that clearly verbalizes your
results. Often, for example, charts need some text to explain
their contents.
- Summary: a list of bullets
that concisely presents each of your findings.
- Provide updated Feedback
Table. Make sure to apply any
relevant feedback from the past. (I will retain all
previous drafts, so there is no need to resubmit those.) It helps
if you highlight and related changes in the text - if applicable.
Submission
Format
- Keep in mind that your AP
will be online eventually. But, because it's difficult to comment on
web pages, I prefer a Word document for this
assignment.
- WebCT dropbox:
- Use the
smallest possible number of files, and name them thus:
SusieQ-results.doc. (Substitute your name for SusieQ.)
- Self-assess on an embedded
rubric.
- I will post my feedback
in the same Dropbox.
- Mechanics are not evaluated
here, but do your best because it saves time.
