This description is for Ed.S.

Purpose of this
Assignment
Our accreditation requires that all
certification candidates present a portfolio of professional products
in the final Oral Exam. For Ed.S. students, the focus of this
Exam is the Applied Project. However, the portfolio must not be
neglected and can be useful when applying for jobs.
Task
Throughout your graduate program, you have been required to maintain an
Assignment Page that provides an online presentation of your class
assignments. Your task is now to finalize this resource into a
Portfolio.
The "Big 8" assignments were carefully
designed to completely cover and align with the AASL
Competencies. We require M.Ed. students to demonstrate this
alignment, but you are not expected to do that.
Take meticulous care to present a
mechanically clean product. This portfolio represents your online
professional self, and therefore should be error-free.
Components
- "Big 8" assignments: Program Development & Evaluation Plan;
Reading &
Literacy Project; I-Search; Collaborative Unit(s); Selection Policy; Order; Internship; GACE or PRAXIS results.
- The first six projects should be the acceptable drafts of the
completed projects. That is, if your first score was below 90%,
then you should have revised the project until it met the "A"
standard. Submit the assignment version you completed while
enrolled in the corresponding class (assignments themselves evolve over
time; you are not expected to change your product to this year's version).
- The Internship must not be made public. For your
Portfolio, write a simple summary of where you worked and the kinds of
things you did. Your audience for this document should be a potential
employer.
- For the test results, simply report that you took the test or
when you plan to take it, and whether you have passed.
- If a component is in progress (for example, the Internship is a
current class for most of you), make a placeholder for it and explain
its status.
- Package: without spending an
inordinate amount of time, assemble the portfolio into a reasonably
professional-looking product. You may use any online tool as a
host. It's possible that you will simply "neaten up" what you
have done so far. The Home page should indicate to any outsider
what the site is about and who you are. Keep in mind that the
site can be very simple; it need not have a large number of pages.
- If you find yourself building
pieces for a job-hunting portfolio (such as a resume), this Portfolio
is an ideal place to collect and present all such pieces.
Submission
Format
- Submit the URL to me on the
class due date via email (mfitzger@uga.edu).
- As you apply for the
Marathon, submit the URL as a part of that application.
- I highly recommend that you
link the Applied Project and the Portfolio together so that the
Committee can find all of your products easily.
- Self-assess.
