*If you are not in the
SLM track, choose a researcher related to your own professional context.
Task
Choose a Star from the list provided below
- first come, first served. You may petition for a name that may have
been inadvertently left off. Register your
choice with the Exhibition Manager (see above).
Prepare an online
presentation for our class
about this Star that covers the points in the rubric below.
Choose a "Web 2.0" tool that is freely accessible to everyone (without
login or cost). Create an exhibit that
will be
self-explanatory, memorable, and an adequate
opportunity for viewers to get a good idea of what this Star
contributed. It will most likely be complimentary to the Star - no
critiques expected here. Make sure to assess
your own presentation in the column provided in the
rubric.
On the scheduled day,
both classes will meet online.
A detailed agenda will be provided, but reserve about 2/3 of the
day to visit each of the Exhibits. Send award nominations to me
via Skype Chat. (Categories are completely open.)
Leave a brief comment at a certain number of Exhibits, to be agreed
upon. (Discussion boards
in ELC will be provided if this is not possible.) Reserve
about 1/3 of the day for class business and Wacky Awards through Wimba.
The resulting link
collection will provide an index to a wealth of SLM research and
theory.
The arguments and findings therein may form the basis of proposals,
grants, and justifications that you must make throughout your
career. We might also learn some new 2.0 tricks as well. (I
recommend that you choose a tool that is just slightly beyond your
familiarity zone - don't make it too hard, technically.)
