- I'll check the Exhibition topics for balance
and coverage.

lit trivia
questions
Planned Guests:
- Vendor reps

problems. If you prefer another account, remember to have your
UGA forwarded to it automatically.
- Blog: cohort7.wordpress.com
- Plan to use this as a class diary and announcement spot
- Comments enabled
- Use the RSS to pull into your Reader or your email (have
you tried Google Reader or similar?)
- Wiki: considering using for project pages
- Don't forget your assignment page, which should link to
all your projects
- Skype: use for IMing
and free "telephone" - if I'm online, feel free to "Skype" me! I
will give you my Skype Name in class.
Grouping:
- Costs/benefits of teamwork
- Some strategies
- Small groups this term: 2-3 people max
- We need to integrate our C7.5 folks.

Homework
Sketched as if assignment
deadlines are those proposed in syllabus - may adjust if dates adjust!
- Deliverable: Find
out what a
"selection tool"
is (definition). Borrow, check out, bring, or be able to
demonstrate
ONE example. Don't worry about duplication. We will
show-and-tell.
We promise that all will be returned (if borrowed) promptly and
unharmed!
(Hint: some may be the same as review sources, or contain reviews, but
don't have to.)
- Read:
- AASL's
interpretation of the ALA Library Bill of Rights
- Bishop:
- start by reading the Table of Contents thoroughly. As you
work on your projects, refer to the relevant parts of her book.
- We will discuss the first 7 chapters this month. Get as far
as you can. The chapters are short, and there is very little irrelevant
material in the chapters.
- Information Power: review vision, philosophy, roles, IL
standards (pp. 1-44); chapter 5
- Explore sample
selection policies from C5, C6, and
from the school library world in
general. You might enjoy looking at your own school's or your system's.
When looking at past student projects, remember that the assignment
always shifts at least a little so you can't use another policy as an
exact template.
- Complete
the Reflection
About Controversial Issues in School Library Media Materials. For
your eyes only.
- Progress toward Exhibition:
Format
choices are first-come, first-served - and the popular ones go fast!
Email
your choice to the Manager. Read the relevant part of Bishop Chapter 8.
