Discussion Points
- In EDIT 6340, this topic is more of an underlying value than a
topic in itself.
- Ideal: is virtually unlimited access for every person; logically
leads to providing usable formats
- Relates to circulation (Bishop 11; this is also in ch.13)
- Ties to democratic process
- Efficient use of resources: a common-sense value that encourages
you to seek multiple uses of different items rather than spending
tremendous amounts of time and money for limited benefits. Balance this
with meeting diverse user needs. (Origin: 4.1D - a frustratingly vague
statement)
- Technology: use to the max to enhance access. One of your
"best friends" in the media program!
- Access is the most important theme of the Cataloging class.
