Purpose
This assignment provides an early feedback opportunity for one of the two large products required in this course. The rationale for this assignment and full explanation for each of the three components are given in the Program Development & Evaluation Plan (PDEP) description. Your first step in completing this Draft should be to read the PDEP description thoroughly.

In this exercise, you will work as a group to create some early elements needed for the big Project. Full credit is given for complete assignments, along with qualitative formative feedback. We expect you to apply this feedback in your completed Project.

Overview
This preliminary task requires you to submit some background information and complete first draft of the Philosophy and Mission Statement. Then, it requires you to draft the most critical part of the Plan - the Goals, Objectives, and evaluations for these.

Brief description of target school and its media center learning environment; include school mission or goals
Media Center Philosophy and Mission Statement
List of Goals for the media program (long-range)
List of Objectives for the media program (short-range)
List of evaluation methods or techniques or measures for each Objective

Guidelines

Again, make sure to read the entire assignment - many hints and suggestions are embedded.
The most difficult part of this assignment has always been alignment of Goals, Objectives, and evaluation. A table is provided below to help you visualize this alignment. You need not be bound by this format, however; other teams in the past have used an outline method very successfully. Make sure that Objectives flow from Goals and that evaluation measures Objectives.
Although I have sketched three objectives per goal, this is an arbitrary choice. You may have more or less than that. The ideal number of Goals seems to be four to eight (based solely on experience).
The more you put into a Draft, the more valuable feedback you get back. Do your best; you have nothing to lose, but much to gain.
