Your purpose in creating this
Exhibit should be to 1). become an expert
about one particular journal or organization; and 2). to
demonstrate this journal or organization in such a way that your
classmates
will be excited about subscribing or joining.
Blogs have become so important
that you may consider them in the category of Journals. However,
choose one that is very active and substantial - many do not fit this
category. The GLMA Blog would be a good one to consider.
Organizations include:
Association for Educational
Communications
and Technology (AECT)
Georgia Association for Instructional
Technology (GAIT)
American Library Association (ALA)
American Association of School Librarians
(AASL)
Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA)
International Association of School Librarians
(IASL)
National Education Association (NEA)
Professional Association of Georgia Educators

Journals:
See You
Are the Key for a good list (in the Resources section).
Task
Choose your journal or organization - first come, first
served. Register your
choice with the Exhibition Manager.
Begin researching your topic. Also, explore 2.0 technologies and
select one for your exhibit.
Prepare an online
presentation for our class that covers the points in the rubric
below.
Choose a "Web 2.0" tool that is freely accessible to everyone (without
login or cost). Create an exhibit that
will be
self-explanatory, memorable, and an adequate
opportunity for viewers to get a good overview of the journal or
organization. Critiques are not expected here. Make
sure to assess
your own presentation in the column provided in the
rubric.
On the scheduled day,
we will meet online.
A detailed agenda will be provided, but reserve the day as usual. We
will spend most of it "visiting" the exhibits. Meet in the Wimba
classroom to handle business early, go our separate ways to visit the
Exhibits, then reconvene at the end of the day for Wacky aWards. Leave a brief comment at each Exhibit, if possible. Send award nominations to me
via Skype Chat. (Categories are completely open.)
The resulting link
collection will provide an index to many important SLM resources.
We might also pick up some new 2.0 tricks as well. (I
recommend that you choose a tool that is just slightly beyond your
familiarity zone - don't make it too hard, technically.)
