Job Aid: Troubleshooting
Ashley and Summer
A guide to applying basic troubleshooting
techniques to solve minor problems.
-
Program Freeze: The
program you are working with stops responding
-
What to do? First try to force quit
the program using the key combination ctrl+alt+del. This should close your
program.
-
Computer Freeze: Your
mouse quits working when you are experiencing a computer freeze
-
What to do? Begin by using ctrl+alt+del
to close all the open applications and to restart the computer. If this
strategy doesn’t work then you will need to reboot the computer. If your
computer has a restart button then use this to reboot. If there is not
a restart button then press and hold the power button located on the CPU.
This should reboot your computer. This should be last resort. Always try
ctrl+alt+del first.
-
Help Menu: F1
will pull up the help menu for whatever application you are in. This is
a great tool for solving other small problems within the application.
