First Synchronous Online Meeting

Tuesday, August 31- We will meet online on WebCt at 7:30pm in chat room 1 for 6320 to connect for the first time in our virtual office hour. We won't have a face to face until I can come to your EDIT 6300 class at GUC on September 11. The online office hour will be our introductory session. I apologize for not being at the Blast-Off. Reason: I will be in Buenos Aires, Argentina, August 20-28 for the International Federation of Library Associations Annual Conference. I do not know what kind of online access I will have. On the syllabus, you will find the starting assignment that will be due, Thursday, September 2. I'll be back on the Bulletin Board on August 29 at the latest and hopefully during the conference, but I'm not counting on that.

Caution: I do sometimes change assignments during the chat times so you need to pay attention to the chats and attend as many as possible and/or read the archives. Those who attend tend to do better with the assignments and the class. It is your responsibility to keep in touch with me and tell me whenever you do not understand or have difficulties with the assignments. I can't help if I don't know. I will also post changes in "Julie's forum" on the discussion board.

Please read the syllabus thoroughly and post any need for clarification on the Bulletin Board. I hope to have several sessions through Horizon Live. If you have a headset with microphone to connect to your computer, this should do it. School computers with firewalls give Horizon Live fits so we'll talk about this. Otherwise, this course will be entirely online through WebCt. We will have virtual office hours Tuesday and Thursday evenings each week at 7:30-8:30 or shorter if you don't have many questions. I will require your attendance at least once each week and will keep track of your online attendance in the grade report section. Look for additional materials to be posted to the homepage ongoing through the course.
