he
program offers either an M.Ed. or an Ed.S. degree. The curriculum
is designed to provide educational practitioners with the skills,
knowledge,
and experience
to
effectively
use technology to enhance teaching and learning
for all students.
The program is appropriate for either teachers who want to be better at using technology in their own classroom or for teachers who want to become technology coordinators in the schools. This is not a technical skills oriented program, but,
rather, is intended to build on a candidate’s
existing technical skills to effectively integrate
technology into classroom practice.
Goal
Our goal is to assist educators
to effectively use technology to enhance teaching and learning
in Georgia schools (P-16).
Delivery
Our model follows a flexible
delivery cohort model. Each cohort begins in the summer.
Approximately 25 students
are admitted each year. The cohort then takes two classes per
semester. One class is taught face-to-face at the Gwinnett
University Center and one class is taught online (many of the
online courses are synchronous, requiring students to be online
at a certain time).
Benefits
Benefits of participation in the Technology
Integration Program include the following:
- Develop a portfolio of accomplishments
throughout the program
- Acquire the integration concepts
and recognition to become a specialist in Instructional
Technology
- Enhance your classroom teaching
with technology or become more competitive for technology
coordinator positions
- Some schools are now recognizing
this degree for their technology coordinator positions
