Flash: Introduction to Action Scripting
Location: Room 616
Workshop Description
After this brief workshop, you should know or be
able to do the following:
- Add labels to particular frames and use scripts
to link to these frame labels
- Add simple scripts to buttons to give the user
control over the actions in a movie.
- Use Flash as a hypermedia authoring tool
Some helpful hints
- Right-click (control-click on Macs) on an object
to get an object sensitive pop-up menu Actions will be a choice for
most objects
- If Actions is not a choice, then use this as
a cue that you did not select an object correctly (e.g. you have inadvertently
selected two or more objects).
- If the specific frame actions are dimmed (i.e.
not accessible), use this as a cue that you do not have a place for the script
to go. For example, before you can add a script to a frame, you first have
to create a key frame.
Some scripting recommendations
- Create a separate layer just for frame labels
- Create a separate layer just for scripts
- Divide and conquer: Use scenes to break a large
project into manageable chunks
- Practice, practice, practice!
