Educational Applications of Computer Graphics

This SIG will explore the full range of computer graphics applications for the purpose of developing visually-rich and visually-appropriate materials for learning and teaching. The SIG also includes a strong focus on theory and research. Special consideration will be given to the design and development of animated graphics in instruction. Approximately 3 SIG meetings are planned. SIG members are expected to attend and participate in every SIG meeting, read the assigned readings for each class, and focus their studio projects around this SIG theme. SIG members are expected to read the book Computers, Graphics, and Learning by Lloyd Rieber (this book, published in 1994 by Brown & Benchmark is available on line at http://www.NowhereRoad.com/cgl). Lloyd has begun the revision to this book and is looking forward to involving SIG members in the updates. Each session will devote some time to web sites found by participants that demonstrate examples of the design principles covered.
