Project KID DESIGNER is an on-going project in which elementary and middle students are given the opportunity to design their own educational computer games. University personnel work as programmers for the students. Over the past 5 years about a dozen computer games have been created on subjects ranging from mathematics, physics, Greek mythology, understanding plants, and electricity. This seminar will present the goals, mission, and history of Project KID DESIGNER and also summarize details of the latest effort of the project in which middle school students took on the role of "software critics". They played all of the games over a period of about 4 weeks and evaluated the games as they went.
This seminar will be conducted by Lloyd Rieber.
