Mission
The School Library Media Master's Degree Concentration area in Instructional
Technology provides individuals with professional
level skills in the organization and application of resources
to the solution of instructional problems within schools.
This program is approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission to provide S5 and S6 certification for K-12 Library Media Specialists.
Objectives
The School Library Media program provides opportunities for students
to develop:

The
basic knowledge and skills necessary to design, produce,
and use a variety of media and materials in instructional
settings; to administer and guide the use of information
services; and to organize, evaluate, and administer instructional
resources and media services.

An
understanding of the school curriculum, how students
learn, and the role of materials in instruction.

Skills
in the process of instructional and curriculum development.

Education: Schools
in Georgia (and many other states) require certified
School Media Specialists.
Application
Deadlines
One Cohort of approximately 25 Students is admitted per year. We strongly encourage beginning in Summer for helpful technology prerequisites. However, a Fall start is permitted.
The deadline for either Summer or Fall 2005 is February 1. After
this date has passed, check with slmedia@uga.edu to
determine if space is still available. All application materials
must be completed and received by the deadline to ensure a timely
admission decision.
