Goal

Our goal is to assist educators to effectively use technology to enhance teaching and learning in Georgia schools.

Mission

The mission of this certificate program is to provide educational practitioners with the skills, knowledge, and experience to effectively use technology to enhance teaching and learning for all students. This is not a technical skills oriented certificate, but, rather, is intended to build on a candidate’s existing technical skills to effectively integrate technology into classroom practice.

Benefits of participation in the Certificate of Technology Integration Program include the following:

  • Develop a portfolio of accomplishments throughout the program
  • Acquire the integration concepts and recognition to become a specialist in Instructional Technology
  • Enhance your classroom teaching with technology or become more competitive for technology coordinator positions
  • Obtain graduate credit for courses successfully completed
  • Transfer up to 9 non-degree credit hours to the M.Ed. in Instructional Technology *

    *Requires a separate application to this degree program. See the Department of Instructional Technology web site for application procedures and admission requirements. Candidates already admitted to the IT M.Ed. program can earn this certificate as they earn their degree.

Prerequisites

  • Current teaching certification
  • At least 2 years teaching experience
  • Extensive experience using software applications within a K-12 classroom setting including:
    • Instructional courseware (e.g. educational simulations)
    • Software tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, Apple Works), and
    • Web development tools
  • Technology integration experience (PSC approved course or equiv.)
  • Highly motivated and self-directed

Admission Requirements

Please note that space is limited. Not all candidates
who apply will necessarily be admitted.

  1. Completed non-degree application — available with directions at the UGA Graduate School Web Site
  2. Two official copies of transcripts showing proof of bachelor’s degree
  3. $50 application fee
  4. A written goal statement

Application Deadlines

All application materials must be completed and received by Instructional Technology and the Graduate School by this date to ensure an admissions decision by the respective term.

Note: the dealines listed below are those required by Instructional Technology.
