It might be interesting to ask Mr. Salomon specifically why he left the listserv. Was it a message overload, too many chatty messages, no strong interest in the subject matter? I've exited several lists for a variety of reasons. One was to aloof and critical of anyone new who spoke out, another was because of too many mindless, time wasting comments. Every listserv is not for everyone and it is difficult to edit or censor comments--they seem to take on a life of their own. I've seen ITForum (which is fairly new) have a chatty/social side which I questioned but finally decided that it gave members a social comfort which eliminated the elitist feel of other listservs I was once on. Also, the material and discussions seen lately on ITForum have had value to me--but maybe not to Mr. Salomon. It will be interesting to see how many people, if any, will be critical of you, as a new person, speaking out. I hope that won't happen here, but let me know how it goes. Thanks for your comments--you address an area of concern for listservs.
