If you are experiencing problems seeing and hearing the Impatica presentations, it is probably a problem with Java. So, if you can't get anything to work, the first thing to check is whether your Internet browser is “java enabled”.
However, a common problem people report is that although they are able to hear the presentation just fine, they only see a gray box where the presentation content should be displayed. If this happens, below are some recommended procedures for solving this problem. I also recommend that you go to the Impatica home page (http://www.impatica.com) to research the problem.
Please note that I did not write the directions below - two different technical support people gave them to me. So, I feel compelled to offer the disclaimer up front that I cannot be held personally responsible for whatever may happen to your computer if you follow them. This is important because the second set of suggestions have you “uninstall” Java from your computer. One must always be VERY careful while doing any uninstallations. If you uninstall the wrong files, you may do damage to your computer system. If you have not uninstalled programs before, you might want to get someone with more experience to help you.
However, I will personally attest to the fact that I followed the Java uninstall/reinstall directions below on my own Dell laptop (I was having the gray box problem) and it worked just fine.
Good luck!

Clear your temporary Internet files area:
Your web browser has a storage facility on your hard drive that stores graphics and text from web sites that you visit. This storage facility is called the cache. The reason web browsers have a cache is that it is quicker and easier to load images, etc. from cache on your hard drive than downloading them again. Over time, your browser's cache gets full and the information gets outdated. This can cause problems with Java applets that can result in your Impatica movie freezing or not playing at all. The solution to this is to clear cache and reload the page. If this does not work, try clearing cache, closing your browser and then revisiting the page.
Nescape 4.x or greater
1. Select Edit, then click Preferences.
2. Select Advanced, then click Cache.
3. Click on Clear Memory Cache and Clear Disk Cache buttons to clear the cache.
Internet Explorer 4.x or greater
1. Select View
(or Tools if you are using IE 5.x), then click Internet Options.
2. Select the General Tab.
3. Click on the Delete Files button to clear the cache.
IF THE ABOVE DOESN’T WORK, THEN DO THIS:
The inability to see recorded presentations is normally the result of having an incompatible version of Java installed. This will cause the gray screen you mentioned.
Please follow these steps to correct the problem:
Uninstall any versions of Java currently installed on your computer

2. If you are using Windows XP, click Control Panel.
3. If you are NOT using Windows XP, select Settings, then click Control Panel from within the Settings menu.
4. With the Control Panel open, double click Add/Remove Programs.

programs until you see an entry with the word Java.
(For example: Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_04)
6. Click the Add/Remove button.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all versions of Java are uninstalled.
8. Click the OK button to close the Add/Remove window.
9. Close the Control Panel Window.
10. Reboot your computer.
